A busy day...

I bought this lovely book some weeks ago. As I try to become more responsible about the food we eat, this does mean much more time in the planning, more time spent in the kitchen and more dirty dishes to wash!! Saying this I strongly believe it is worth all my efforts. :)

This morning I made this delicious ice cream, its a no churn ice cream but I did churn it for a few minutes to speed up the process for freezing. It is a very rich ice cream but I served it with a berry cobbler which complimented the ice cream. I used our own blackberries and the apples were organic.

I have been looking at the Elderberry bushes in our village, this evening I picked my first pickings. I will be making and bottling Elderberry syrup for the winter. :)

Tomatoes

I am picking tomatoes everyday from our garden, with each passing year I am growing more produce and I can see that I am nipping out in the garden during cooking and picking something to add to our meals. Its starting to feel like a mini larder :)
I am getting more confident with growing herbs and using them.
Our tomatoes sit on the kitchen windowsill, our dish does not stay full for long, a quick rinse under the tap and towel dried then sliced and in a sandwich!!

Since I last wrote my blog regularly I have found the you tube blog " off grid living with doug & stacy", its very much worth a look :) xx

Our lilly tree...

I took this picture of our Lilly tree yesterday morning, I nipped outside early in the morning, it had been raining heavy so in between downpours I managed to grab my camera and click away.

I have it in a pot just outside the kitchen window, I can smell it when I am washing the dishes with the window open.

I am still digging up our own grown potatoes.

I had to go back to the Doctors this morning, my sinusis have been painful again. Our Doctor told me this has been the worst year for hayfever for years, he told me the pollen is so high.
Weather seems to be very strange at the moment, it just seems we are having so much rain.
The garden is so green and leafy. x

Being busy everyday...

Its been weeks now where I know on a Monday I am doing something everyday for the week a head!
We have finished the hallway and its now time to give the floorboards upstairs a fresh coat of paint.
This is the nicest paint I have used in a long time, I like to use a Purdy paintbrush.

We now have two students, both are young men. They are staying for one month so I am home baking everyday.
Last week both our big girls came over at two separate times and Milly came home for a few days, it was not long enough.
Here are a few pictures of last week.

our liza girl looking for nannies potatoes, she soon finds them :)
Our Eva, she is loving her new school and bought her mama & dada a lovely school report home.
" Lou lou Man"
Jady bought our Oscar over one afternoon, he is such a funny little man.

He was spraying us with water to keep us cool ;)
His lovely mama our Jade,
They all mean the world to me and they love nannies garden.
Tonight it has been raining heavy but it has cooled the air, it has been humid in the night which makes sleep uncomfortable.
Another busy day tomorrow but I am thankful.
Wishing you all a lovely evening, God Bless xx
